WISP-Dist is an embedded Linux distribution geared to be used as a wireless gateway or an access point, but performs equally well as a general purpose router or firewall. Some of the highlights include user-friendly menu configuration interface, support for most network and wireless cards, traffic shaping, remote upgrade, serial console, dynamic routing (OSPF/RIP), SNMP and a lot more. At the same time, entire system fits in 8 MB disk space and requires only 16 MB RAM, making it ideal for use on embedded motherboards such as Soekris.
